Hello, I’m Alexis Boysen. The man on the right is my husband, Larame. He helps with our personal projects and renovations. We both graduated from Iowa State University, where I studied Interior Design. After college, we moved to New England for Larame’s job.

While living there, I worked for a custom cabinetry builder, where I gained hands-on experience in cabinet construction and learned how to design truly functional kitchens. During that time, I began taking on small side projects, and AB Design slowly started to take shape. Together, Larame and I took on our first renovation—a duplex—learning invaluable lessons about construction, budgeting, and the realities of renovating firsthand.

In the spring of 2023, we relocated to Birmingham, Alabama, again for Larame’s work. There, I joined a design-build firm where I developed much of the design knowledge and process I still use today. While in Birmingham, we renovated a single-family home of our own, continuing to deepen our understanding of construction and project management from the inside out.

In January of 2025, our family moved to St. Louis. Our son was nine months old, and I knew I wanted to be present with him while still pursuing my passion for design. That’s when we made the decision to take AB Design full time—and we have been incredibly grateful for the journey so far.

We take on projects and renovations in both Iowa and the St. Louis Metro. We would love to be apart of your project and hope we can create a space that inspires you!
